What to study
Battle Brothers' battle screen spends its chrome on exactly three questions: whose turn is it, what just happened, and what can this man still do. The turn question is answered twice, as a portrait row along the bottom with the active brother enlarged, and as arithmetic at the top: a round medallion flanked by the living strength of both sides, 11 against 9, so the fight's score is always a headcount of the men you are trying not to lose. What happened lives in a two-line combat log that refuses abstraction, it names Helfrich, and distinguishes his armour being hit for 17 from his body being hit for 6, because in this game that difference is the whole damage model. What Hanke can do is compressed into one dense card: action points in orange (9/9), fatigue (3/89), morale as a word in green ('Steady'), two armour values and hitpoints in red, with his four skills riding at the card's shoulder and the end-turn controls at the row's far end. The field itself stays clean, tokens on a faint hex grid, the company's cart at centre, corpses marking the rounds already spent. Frame at 1:09.9 in the Launch Trailer (scene-change survivor v1_0003).

Screen inventory
- the top-centre round medallion reading '2', flanked by the two forces' living strength as headcounts: a blue banner icon with 11 for the company, a skull with 9 for the enemy
- the combat log pinned at top left, two lines that name names: 'Helfrich's body armor is hit for 17 damage' and 'Helfrich's body is hit for 6 damage', with a small collapse arrow at its corner
- a row of five small square utility buttons at top right, ending in a close X
- the active brother's unit card at bottom left, HANKE: an orange action-point bar at 9/9, fatigue 3/89, morale 'Steady' in green, two armour values (110/110 and 80/80) with shield icons, and hitpoints 60/60 in red
- four skill icons at the unit card's right shoulder, and at the far right of the bottom row a circular-arrow end-turn button and a check button
- the turn-order row along the bottom: seven brother portraits in initiative order, the active man's portrait enlarged and overlaid with his weapon and shield
- the field itself is nearly bare of chrome: bust-style tokens on a faint hex grid, a supply cart and donkey at centre, corpses and blood where earlier rounds fell, and fog of war blacking out the map's edges
