What to study

CrossCode is an action-RPG wearing an MMO's clothes, and this frame shows both layers at once. Across the top runs a compressed character sheet, LVL 46, MAXHP, ATK, DEF, FOC, an HP bar and SP pips, beside a diamond of numbered element slots with the flame element selected, the same four stats the Equipment screen spells out in full. The party exists as two portrait chips with HP bars down the left edge and as 'LV 15' tags floating over enemies in the snow. Over that live field sits the tactics panel, and its design is translation: each row offers three pictogram buttons (skull groups for TARGET, sword / shield / barred circle for BEHAVIOUR, art icons for COMBAT ARTS) and then states the outcome in words after an orange arrow, Others, Defensive, Normal, while a footer sentence explains the current combination in plain English: 'Party members will focus enemies as they please.' Party AI, a system most RPGs bury in a pause menu, is configured here without leaving the field, in icons first and prose second. Frame at about 1:27 in the CrossCode Element Gameplay Trailer (Steam), a manual extraction at 87.0s (the scene-change pass caught the surrounding combat but not this menu beat, which runs about 86.5–87.5s), inspected at full resolution (1920x1080).

Screen inventory

  • top stat strip: 'LVL 46', 'MAXHP 1639', 'ATK 116', 'DEF 85', 'FOC 208', with 'HP 1639' over a green bar and an 'SP' row of blue and grey pips beneath it
  • top-left element diamond: four numbered diamonds (1 blue, 4 green, 3 grey centre, 2 pink) around a larger selected flame diamond, the Heat element loadout
  • two party portrait chips down the left edge (a dark-haired man, a red-haired woman), each with a green HP bar and a thin purple sub-bar
  • the live world underneath: a snowy field dotted with small teal 'LV 15' tags over enemies, a blue rabbit-like enemy at lower right, and the party clustered centre-frame under an orange diamond marker
  • the black tactics panel at right, three labelled rows of icon options with the plain-language result after an orange arrow: TARGET (three skull-group icons, the first selected with an orange border and cursor) → 'Others'; BEHAVIOUR (sword / shield / prohibited icons) → 'Defensive'; COMBAT ARTS (two art icons / prohibited) → 'Normal'
  • footer explanation bar across the bottom: 'Party members will focus enemies as they please.'
