What to study

Movement is the first tactical decision and the HUD draws it literally: a path line from the soldier to the van, a shield where cover will be, and the word Dashing! at the destination, so the cost (both actions) is visible before the move is made. The bottom bar stays quiet except for the four abilities and the Shotgun card, because during a move nothing else matters. Frame at about 1:06 in the XCOM EU The Story Trailer (Steam).
