What to study

Everything Terra Nil asks you to manage is on this one screen, and none of it is a spreadsheet. Restoration progress is a dial, money is a pile of leaves, the climate is two bars (humidity 33%, temperature -3°C), and an animal's welfare is a pair of zoned sliders whose green band you are trying to move your herd into. The building palette keeps the same plainness: six machines drawn at button size, each wearing its leaf price, with undo given the biggest, brightest button on the bar, in a game about undoing damage, reversing your own move is a first-class verb. Frame at about 0:44 in the Vita Nova trailer (Steam; scene-change survivor v3_0012, the same Animals panel appears seconds earlier for a second deer, Poplar, at Territory 56/150).

Screen inventory

  • top left, the whole run state in one cluster: a circular dial reading 98% around a grass-tile icon, a leaf currency count of 10825, and three round buttons (layers, handbook, settings gear)
  • the Animals panel names one animal, Blossom (Deer), under a header tally of three paw-icon counts (a green heart-paw 3, an orange paw 2, a red paw 0): her NEEDS are two segmented range bars, Space and Water, drawn as red / blue / green zones with a marker triangle showing where she currently sits, plus Territory 150/150 and an 'Ideal happiness bonus' row of two tile-transformation chips
  • top right, the climate is two thin bars and nothing more: a droplet humidity bar at 33% and a thermometer bar at -3°C, with an orange chevron to collapse them
  • along the bottom, the building palette: a phase tab marked 1 with a rain-cloud weather button, then six building buttons drawn as the buildings themselves, each priced in leaves on a dark badge (75 / 50 / 50 / 50 / 75 / 100), and one oversized orange undo button to close the row
  • on the map itself the selected deer's territory is traced in a glowing green outline, the deer inside it rendered as flat green silhouettes, so the panel's Territory number and the land it counts are visible in the same frame
