What to study
Demon negotiation is SMT's signature conversation system, and its dialogue screen is deliberately the quietest in the game. There is no box, no portrait, no choice list in this frame: just a nameplate, one line of large serif type on a translucent band, and the demon itself looming over the water above it, so the words and the creature they belong to share the frame. The NEXT indicator and the FFWD/Auto prompts are the only chrome, and they sit at the far edges so the negotiation reads as a scene, not a form. The line itself is the system working: Efreet is accepting an offering, one of the bribes that turns an enemy into an ally, which is how the party in the other frames gets built. Frame at 1:11 in the An Ideal World Trailer (Steam; manual extraction — the line types out over about two seconds and the scene-change pass caught only the empty frame before it; found by the dense 1 frame/2s filmstrip scan, taken as the line completes). Disclosure: none; the line is fully typed and the frame is settled.

Screen inventory
- the dialogue band is a translucent dark strip across the lower third of the screen, edged with faint ornate ring motifs at both ends, with the speaker name 'Efreet' set in italic serif at its top-left edge
- the line itself is centred in a large clean serif: 'Oho, an offering! I shall gladly accept.' with a gold NEXT indicator at the end of the line
- controller prompts stack at lower right: Y FFWD, X Auto, RB MW off
- above the band, the demon Efreet floats over a lotus pond facing the Nahobino, the negotiation staged in the world rather than in a separate screen
