What to study
The hangar sheet applies the battle grid's honesty to character building: one mech, every fact about it, one screen. The Swap Mech panel is laid out as four labelled columns, PILOT (Abe Isamu's portrait, 0/25 xp, and three skill slots of which only 'Armored' has been revealed; the rest sit behind '??'), REACTOR (a vertical stack of empty core ticks with INSTALL and UNDO at its foot), STATS (Health 2 and Move 4, each with its upgrade written as a plain toggle: '+2 Health', '+1 Move'), and WEAPONS (the Teleporter card with its own '+1 Range' and '+2 Range' toggles, plus one empty slot). Nothing is abstract: an upgrade is a labelled switch with its cost implied by the reactor column beside it, a locked skill is literally a question mark, and spare equipment waits in the STORAGE column at right (the Push Beam, page 1 of 1). Even the safety net is on the sheet, the footer offers the Virtual Simulator and a TEST MECH button, so a loadout can be trialled before it is committed, the same undo-friendly philosophy as the battle screen's UNDO MOVE and RESET TURN. The squad's other mechs wait as sprites down the left edge and the campaign top bar stays pinned above, keeping this one mech's sheet inside the run it belongs to. Frame at about 0:38 in the Into The Breach - Announcement Trailer video (Steam), manually extracted at 37.5s: the pipeline's scene-change bundle contains no frame from the trailer's loadout passage (its survivors jump from 33.2s to 39.1s), so this segment was found by the 1-frame/2s filmstrip audit and probed at 0.5s steps.

Screen inventory
- header: 'Swap Mech' in large pixel type on an angled tab, with 'Mech Class: Science' beside it, the screen is the hangar sheet for one mech of the squad
- PILOT column: Abe Isamu's portrait in a square frame, '0 / 25 xp' beneath it, and three skill slots, the first unlocked and reading 'Armored', the other two still hidden behind '??', so pilot progression is shown as slots that fill, not a tree
- REACTOR column: a vertical stack of empty core ticks with INSTALL and UNDO buttons at its foot, reactor cores are the currency that powers every upgrade on the screen
- STATS block: Health 2 with a '+2 Health' upgrade toggle, Move 4 with a '+1 Move' toggle; WEAPONS block below it: the Teleporter weapon card (two facing mech halves with purple cores) with '+1 Range' and '+2 Range' toggles stacked under it, and one empty weapon slot outlined beside it
- left edge, the squad's three mechs as boxed sprites (the red Science mech selected); right side, the STORAGE column with the Push Beam weapon sitting in its top slot and 'Page 1 of 1' at its foot
- footer: 'Use the Virtual Simulator to test Mech Loadouts' beside a TEST MECH button; the campaign top bar persists above everything (stars 2, cores 3, POWER GRID five segments, GRID DEFENSE 15%, population 1826)

Fetched 2026-10-21. verified 2026-10-21: frame manually extracted at 37.5s from the pipeline-downloaded Into The Breach - Announcement Trailer (Steam) and inspected visually at full resolution (1920x1080 native); genuine mech loadout screen confirmed settled and legible (the Swap Mech header and Mech Class: Science line, Abe Isamu's portrait with 0/25 xp and the Armored / ?? skill slots, the REACTOR column with INSTALL and UNDO, Health 2 / Move 4 with their upgrade toggles, the Teleporter weapon card with +1/+2 Range toggles, the STORAGE column and the TEST MECH footer all readable); probes bracket the segment: 36.0-36.5s is the screen arriving over the map, 37.0s shows the same sheet in its 'No Pilot' state, 37.5s is the clean settled state with the pilot installed and no overlay, 38.0s adds a 'Good to go.' speech bubble and a Push Beam tooltip card over the sheet, and 38.5s shows the weapon mid-drag, 37.5s is the cleanest settled frame; no trailer typography overlays the frame
