What to study
Campaign structure drawn as an archipelago. Between battles, Into the Breach reduces its whole run to four floating landmasses on a black sea, one per corporate island, and asks for a single decision: where next. Each island is sold entirely by its terrain art, the green forested island, the cracked ice island the cursor is already hovering over, the desert island drawn as a crater ring, and the grey highland threaded with a glowing green circuit route that marks it as the robotics island before any name appears. There are no labels, flags or difficulty numbers on this screen at all; the persistent top bar (stars 0, cores 0, Power Grid at five of seven, Grid Defense 15%, population 0) and the three boxed mech sprites down the left edge carry all the state, so the map itself can stay a clean piece of geography. It is the same interface philosophy as the battle grid, everything the decision needs, nothing else on screen, applied at campaign scale. Frame at about 0:33 in the Into The Breach - Announcement Trailer video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v0_0004.png at 33.18s, copied to the workdir root as island-select-archipelago.png).

Screen inventory
- four islands float on a dark sea, each drawn as a single readable landmass in its biome's palette: green forest and mountains top-left, cracked white ice top-right (the cursor rests on its lower territory), a ring-shaped brown desert bottom-left, and a grey highland bottom-right threaded with a bright green circuit-like route
- no labels anywhere: the islands are identified purely by terrain art, trees, snowfields, a desert crater ring, circuitry, so the choice reads as geography before it reads as text
- across the top, the persistent campaign bar: gear icon, a star at 0, a reactor-core icon at 0, POWER GRID with five of seven segments lit orange, GRID DEFENSE 15%, and a population icon at 0
- down the left edge, the squad's three mechs ride along as small boxed sprites, the light tank-like mech, the red aircraft and the dark walker that also appear as cards on the battle screens, carrying the party's identity from map to grid
- the cursor arrow sits on the ice island's southern territory, mid-decision: nothing is selected open, no detail panel intrudes, the whole screen is the four-way choice itself
