What to study

The boss fight reduced to a duel of bars. In this mode the ordinary combat HUD disappears entirely, no health bar, no grade badge, no score, and two instruments replace it. At the top, a tug-of-war bar runs between two tilted portrait tiles, the player's sepia guitarist silhouette on the left, the boss's purple silhouette on the right, and the bar itself is split at the current standing: orange for the player, purple for the boss, the player's share visibly larger at this moment, a small white triangle marking the split like a needle. At the bottom, the full-width timing track from the HIBIKI finisher returns in yellow and orange, but the stakes are printed on it differently: the upcoming beats carry a blue X and two green A chips, the exact inputs that will push the top bar further orange. Cause and effect are both on screen at once, play the track well and the tug bar moves, which makes a boss's health abstract and musical instead of numeric. Frame at about 4:35 in the Hi-Fi RUSH | Gameplay Deep Dive Trailer (Steam), pipeline candidate candidates/v0_0126.png at 274.8s, copied unchanged (MD5 matches the candidate). No trailer burn-in appears in this frame.

Screen inventory

  • the versus bar across the top: two tilted portrait tiles, left a sepia guitarist silhouette, right a purple boss silhouette, joined by one horizontal bar split orange (left, holding the larger share) and purple (right), with a small white triangle marker above the split
  • the timing track across the bottom: a full-width yellow-to-orange bar with black beat ticks and note dots, a blue X chip and two green A chips on the beats ahead, and an orange playhead column glowing at the left
  • Chai at centre on a dark purple grid floor, holding the red-and-white guitar, the small black cat head of 808 floating at his right shoulder
  • no grade badge, hit counter or score anywhere in this mode: the versus bar and the timing track are the whole interface
