What to study

A map drawn the way an asset handler would sketch it: no terrain, no colour satellite view, just hatched white line-work on black, districts named like files, Party Alley, Bootleg Bazaar, the War Criminals Shrine. What makes it a system rather than a picture is the legend: vending machines, phones and white checks are plotted as services across the districts, and a fourth layer, the fax machines, sits locked behind Technoflex [II], the map literally shows more of the city as the agent's mind develops, tying navigation to the same skill grid as the Dossier. Travel is present but fenced ('available while outside only'), a small rule stated on the face of the screen. Frame at about 1:12 in the ZERO PARADES - Launch Trailer (English) video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v1_0017.png at 71.8s); the Features trailer's zoomed notebook variant of this map carries burned-in trailer typography and was passed over in its favour.

Screen inventory

  • the city as white hatched line-work on black: district shapes for PARTY ALLEY (current location, top-left), THE BACKWAYS, BOOTLEG BAZAAR, OLD DOCKS, QUISACH ROUNDABOUT, PITOL TRACT, WAR CRIMINALS SHRINE and HOUSING CAMPAIGN, each labelled in a small rounded tag
  • service icons plotted directly on the districts, telephone glyphs, vending-machine cups, padlocks, matching the legend at right: VENDING MACHINES / PHONES / WHITE CHECKS, plus a locked fourth entry, FAX MACHINE : TECHNOFLEX [II], gated behind a skill
  • right rail: a TRAVEL button with the restriction spelled out under it, 'AVAILABLE WHILE OUTSIDE ONLY', fast travel is a rule the map states, not a convenience it hides
  • no terrain, no satellite colour: the map reads as an intelligence sketch, continuous with the dossier and journal screens; the shared menu tab bar rides the top with MAP active
