What to study
The quest log reimagined as a case file a spy would actually keep. Tasks are not a checklist column but a spread of illustrated cards, paintings, not icons, and selecting one deals it to the centre at full size while the right panel types out the brief and its subtasks as leads: people, places, rumours ('Goat Eyes can get you a gun for a down payment. He's around at night.'). Nothing is a map marker; every subtask is a sentence of intelligence that might be wrong, which is exactly the fantasy the game is selling. Finished tasks retire to a strip at the bottom rather than vanishing, so the journal keeps the shape of the whole operation, and an ADD TAG field invites the player to file their own notes into the system. Frame at about 0:48 in the ZERO PARADES - Features and Gameplay Trailer video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v0_0013.png at 48.1s).

Screen inventory
- left: TASKS as a grid of illustrated trading cards, six active assignments visible as painted thumbnails, one lifted and tilted under the cursor, with a FINISHED TASKS strip below holding a single completed card
- centre: the selected task blown up to a full case card, 'Procure In-Theatre', a standoff of hands and pistols around one small standing figure, captioned like a file photograph
- right: the task dossier in type, the brief ('You need a weapon to pull off the assignment. Unfortunately, the Opera cannot just give you one in this city.'), then SUBTASKS as a branching lead list: PURCHASE A GUN with three named leads (Goat Eyes, a man near the Quisach roundabout, the Boatman's tuk-tuk lot) and ASSEMBLE YOUR OWN FIREARM (Foto 24's workbench), each lead a rumour, not a waypoint
- an ADD TAG field closes the panel, the journal is something the player annotates, not just reads; the shared DOSSIER / INVENTORY / CONDITIONING / MAP / JOURNAL tab bar rides the top
