What to study

The character sheet is a ranger's whole life in one tabbed notebook, and its best idea is how it handles depth: the centre column is pure structure, ten-pip orange bars you can read from across the room, while the right column translates the selected bar into sentences and a cartoon, what Nerd Stuff does, who else has it, and the exact difficulty it unlocks. Numbers for the optimiser, prose for the roleplayer, same screen. The exclamation badges on the tabs do quiet persuasion (points are waiting, come and spend them), and UNDO CHANGES admits that levelling is an experiment, not a commitment. Frame at about 0:13 in the Wasteland 3 Gameplay trailer (Steam; manual extraction, the scene-change pass jumps from the New Recruits roster at 10.91s to combat at 16.42s and misses the sheet entirely).

Screen inventory

  • one tabbed notebook runs the whole character: INVENTORY, ATTRIBUTES, SKILLS, PERKS, MAP, MISSION LOG and REPUTATION run across the top, with small exclamation badges on ATTRIBUTES, SKILLS and PERKS wherever unspent points wait, the sheet advertises its own homework
  • Lucia Wesson (LEVEL 12 GUNSLINGER) stands full-height at left under a row of six tilted squad portraits, so any tab is one click from any ranger; her CON 70/70, XP 6608/7725 and four derived readouts (armor 10, 124%, 12%, 1.7X) stay pinned under the model
  • skills are orange segmented pips, ten to a row: LEARNED SKILLS lists NERD STUFF (selected, glowing, one pip still white where a point is being placed), SMALL ARMS, WEAPON MODDING, BARTER and SURVIVAL, with COMBAT SKILLS starting below at AUTOMATIC WEAPONS; SKILL POINTS: 6 counts the remaining pool above the list
  • the right column explains the highlighted skill in plain words under a black-and-white cartoon of two robots at a laptop: NERD STUFF Level 8 'Allows you to use and hack computers, and turn hostile robots to your side', cashed out as Hack Computers / Hack Robots (Difficulty 8 or less); UNDO CHANGES, SHOW STATS and CLOSE run along the bottom
