What to study
A build in Hollow Knight is a jewellery box, not a stat sheet: the Charms screen lays the whole collection out as more than twenty painted medallions in a loose grid, empty rings holding the places of charms not yet found, while the four currently worn sit in an Equipped row at the top. The build's budget is drawn, not numbered: a row of Notches under the equipped charms (five lit, two dark here), and every charm's price is the same dots repeated in its detail panel, Lifeblood Heart costs two. The panel itself splits its text the way the game splits every item: a sentence of pure fiction first ('Contains a living core that seeps precious lifeblood'), then the mechanic in plain words (a coating of lifeblood when resting that absorbs damage). Nothing on the screen has a number stat, a rarity colour or a DPS figure; power is communicated entirely by cost in notches and by prose. Frame at about 0:40 in the Release Trailer (Steam), manually extracted at 39.5s: the scene-change pass missed this screen entirely (it fades in under the trailer's charm montage, between candidates at 36.3s and 40.5s).
