What to study

Dialogue here is not a menu of sentences, it is a menu of words: the line is spoken, and the reply is a single keyword, Play, Backyard, Pay, Break, Dog, each one a different way of answering a shakedown. Two keywords are coloured (Break green, Dog red) against the neutral rest, so the interface signals that some replies carry a different weight before the player commits, and the Smart Ass / Hard Ass / Kiss Ass readout underneath says which social skills are in play at 0. The portraits on both sides keep it a conversation, not a terminal. Frame at about 48.5 s in the Wasteland 2 trailer (Steam).
