What to study

The second half of compounding, and the more original screen: ingredient quantities are tuned against a pentagon chart whose five vertices carry elemental glyphs, so the quality of a medicine is a shape you steer, not a percentage you maximise. The Total Added budget (0 of 10) makes every addition a trade against the others, and the screen refuses to proceed until each required ingredient appears at least once, the rule is printed on the face of the screen, in red, where the mistake happens. It is the Atelier synthesis idea translated into Maomao's idiom: balance as diagnosis. As with the recipe screen, the announcement trailer's 'Compounding' ribbon and caption are burned into the lower edge by the trailer edit and are disclosed here rather than hidden. Frame at about 0:46 in the Announcement Trailer video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v0_0019.png at 45.5s).

Screen inventory

  • header: the job, 'Make Medicinal Tea', and a Total Added counter, 0 / 10, that frames ingredient choice as a budget, not a checklist
  • ingredient rows as ink-brush strokes with round item icons and quantities: Poria (highlighted), Tea Leaves, Honey, each row a single tap-to-add material
  • the pentagon: a five-vertex chart (tree, flame, crystal, grain, water glyphs) plotting the mixture's balance live, the current blend drawn as a thin yellow sliver, the recipe's target shape is spatial, not numeric
  • Maomao stands at right with eyes closed, thinking; the warning 'Add at least one of each ingredient!' and a Begin Compounding prompt gate the exit; controller prompts (Select / Auto-Add Ingredients / Back / Confirm) run along the bottom
