What to study

This frame is the editor's error state, and it is designed like the rest of the tool: quietly. Dragging a prop outside the room summons no dialog and no sound, the floating instruction card simply grows a third line, in red, that says why ('The prop is outside the bounds of this room'), while the prop itself flushes red against the wall it crossed. Teaching, feedback and refusal live in one card. Around that moment the palette shows its other organisation: collapsible sections where light sources are mere text (Fire Basin, Candelabra, Wall Torch) and furniture is pictured with footprints, the library spends pictures only where shape matters. Frame at about 0:45 in the Dungeon Maker Trailer (Steam; scene-change extraction).

Screen inventory

  • the placement prompt gains a third line in red: after 'Select a valid position to place this new prop' and 'Hold "Shift" to place multiple props of this type' comes 'The prop is outside the bounds of this room', and the offending prop itself glows red against the room's left wall
  • the PROPS palette here is organised as collapsible sections, light sources as a plain text row (Fire Basin, Candelabra, Wall Torch), then FURNITURE (Bench 1x1), BARRIERS (Guardrails at 1x1, 4x1, 2x1 and 4x1) and OPENINGS (Wall Blocker 6x1)
  • the room under construction is a worked example, not a blank: rows of benches and fire basins with yellow flame icons, three blue skull encounter markers in the middle, rubble tiles, and an arched doorway icon on its right wall
  • beyond the room's white outline, a second, larger hall to the right is shown at full fidelity on the same grid, its own torches, a skull-and-flame marker and an 'S' hidden-door icon already placed, while the first room is edited
  • header and minimap agree on the name, DUNGEON 2; the undo stack reads UNDO (9), and PLAYTEST waits at top-right throughout, testing is one click from any edit
