What to study

Before play begins, the game writes its world's history and shows you the receipts: the panel names the world (Nitom Lathon, 'The Planets of Myth'), counts what the simulation produced (The Age of Legends, year 85; 9,228 historical figures; 42,336 events) and then abridges it into prose where every actor is a colour-coded link, beasts and people in blue, civilisations in cyan, places in orange. The entries are mundane and mythic in the same breath: a forgotten beast struck down by a dwarf in Shipcobalt, a human becoming law-giver, an elf made druid, a civilisation founding Islandrites. The generated map stays visible around the panel's edges, so the chronicle reads as an annotation of the geography it happened in, and the only control offered is Pause, history is a thing you watch being written, then inherit. Frame at about 0:13 in the Adventure Mode Launch Trailer (Steam).
