What to study

DREDGE's photo mode, and the set's only screen of it: where the sailing HUD (dredge-0, dredge-4) crowds the frame with panels, photo mode strips everything back to a viewfinder grid and a six-item control list, and the horror becomes the subject instead of the catch. Frame at 28.0s in the Complete Edition Trailer (Steam; second-pass extraction sp-ce-photo-mode-2800.png, accurate seek), inspected at full resolution (1920x1080). The control list carries PlayStation button prompts, a console capture inside a Steam trailer, disclosed here; no publisher burn-in, caption or marketing overlay in frame. Found in the bracket around held alternate v0_0014 (night fishing at 28.8s), not the alternate itself: the trailer cuts from this photo beat straight into the night fishing beat, and all five held alternates were rejected as duplicate screen types.

Screen inventory

  • the viewfinder overlay itself: a thin white rule-of-thirds grid with corner brackets framing the whole shot, over open water, a low island and pale cliffs
  • the breaching creature at centre: a grey body with a long red tentacle breaking the surface, the shot's subject
  • the control list at the right edge: Zoom L2/R2, Roll L1/R1, Up/Down, Take Photo X, Toggle Overlay triangle, Back circle, PlayStation button prompts
  • the stripped chrome: no clock, compass, money total or cargo panel, photo mode hides the whole sailing HUD
