What to study

Frank Klepacki's score is half of what this collection is selling, and the Jukebox treats it with the same seriousness as the campaigns: a dual-list playlist editor in the Tiberian Dawn green, library on the left, your playlist on the right, Add/Remove as the only verbs. The library's organisation is the design lesson, the same composition recurs as Classic, Remastered and Bonus versions (Hell March alone appears five times, including a gold-marked unlockable original demo), so the list is really three axes at once: song, game and fidelity, flattened into rows and then recovered by the filter checkboxes underneath, which filter by game and by fidelity tier explicitly, 'Low-Fidelity' worn as a feature rather than an apology. Totals are stated like resources, 203 tracks, 12:04:33, and the screen closes the loop with a live transport in its footer: the track you are arranging is already playing (the Tiberian Sons' Hell March medley, three seconds in), so curation and listening happen in the same place. It sits in encyclopedia-codex in this catalog as the collection's browsable audio archive; no dedicated media-player type exists. Frame at about 2:54 in the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection Official Reveal Trailer video (Steam), a manual extraction (probes/v1-probe-174.0.png at 174.0s, copied to the workdir root as jukebox-music-player.png); the passage has no scene-change survivor at all, the pipeline's nearest frames are the Klepacki photographs before it and the feature list after, and the probe at 172.0s is still glitch-torn, so the settled 174.0s probe is the keeper.

Screen inventory

  • the header states the tool's contract in one line: 'The Jukebox allows you to make your own music playlist. Right-click song names to add or remove.', instructions inside the screen, not in a manual
  • left, the library: 'Available Tracks (203 / 203) - 12:04:33', two hundred and three tracks totalling twelve hours, each row a per-game icon (Tiberian Dawn or Red Alert), the title with its version in parentheses, and its duration: Groundwire (Classic), Heartbreak in Remastered and Classic cuts side by side, and Hell March five times over (Remastered, Classic, the 2 & 3 Medley, the Original Demo marked 'Bonus, Unlocked' in gold, the Retaliation and Tiberian Sons remixes)
  • right, the product: 'Custom Playlist (3) - 0:10:11' holding Act On Instinct (Remastered), GDI Map Theme (Remastered) and Hell March (Remastered), with Add Track / Add All bridging the lists and Remove Track / Remove All emptying back
  • the source filters are themselves a design statement: checkboxes for the two games, then for fidelity, Remastered Tracks (High-Fidelity), Classic Tracks (Low-Fidelity), Bonus Tracks (High-Fidelity), plus an unchecked Shuffle Playlist box and a Delay Between Tracks slider set to 0 Seconds
  • the footer is a working transport, not a formality: Back, a play/pause button, the now-playing line 'Hell March 2 & 3 Medley - Tiberian Sons (Bonus)' at 00:03 of 04:12 with its progress bar, and Apply, the playlist can be auditioned inside the editor that builds it
