What to study

The Codex treats a weapon catalogue as a picture book: big renders, one name each, and a one-sentence description in the detail pane where most games would put a stat table. The grid still smuggles in information, human wood-and-steel guns and pale alien energy weapons read as two families at a glance, and a tiny orange eye glyph flags special entries, but it is all carried by art and icon, never by numbers. It also shows the game's whole menu architecture in one frame: five top tabs and an eight-entry category rail, the same shell the Skills and Map screens live in. Frame at about 0:37 in the 1.0 Launch Trailer video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v1_0014.png at 37.0s).

Screen inventory

  • the Codex is one shell for everything: a top tab bar (QUESTS / MAP / WEAPONS / SKILLS / CODEX) over a left category rail (THORNS / RIFTERS / WEAPONS / MODS / GEAR / LOCATIONS / DISCOVERIES / TUTORIALS)
  • weapons are a grid of large horizontal renders, one name per card (LONGHAUL, THUMPER, DEADBOLT, STUMPER), silhouette first, no stat columns anywhere
  • two visual families share the grid without a word of explanation: wood-and-steel human guns in warm tones, pale-blue alien weapons with glowing seams, provenance read purely from art direction
  • small orange eye icons mark some cards (RIPTIDE, SHREDDR, ROASTER, BOOMER), a seen/unseen or secret flag carried by one glyph
  • the detail pane gives the selected STUMPER a full-height render and a single sentence, 'A sawed-off shotgun ideal for close-range.', flavour instead of numbers
