What to study

This is the character sheet of a robot that is its equipment. The right panel lists every attached part by family with a tick-mark integrity column, that list, not a hit-point total, is the character's body and health at once. Selecting a part opens its dossier at left: three plain sections (Overview, Shot, Explosion) in which nearly every stat is drawn as both a number and a row of coloured blocks, so Range 14 and Heat +49 can be compared by shape before they are read. Even the flags are typographic: PROTOTYPE and ACTIVE are green chips in the same font, and the spares in the INVENTORY strip below use the identical format, because an unattached part is just a part whose row sits in a different panel. The header's part name is caught mid-typewriter animation ('Neutron Missi...'), the panel writes its own title as it opens. Frame at about 0:46 in the Alpha Trailer (Steam; manual extraction).

Screen inventory

  • the left DATA panel is one part's full dossier, grouped in plain sections, Overview (Type: Launcher, Slot: Weapon, Mass 11, Rating 7 flagged PROTOTYPE on a green chip, Integrity, Coverage, Durability 94%, State: ACTIVE on a green chip), Shot (Range 14, Energy, Matter, Heat +49, Recoil 0, Targeting +25%, Delay +20, Stability N/A, Waypoints N/A) and Explosion (Radius, Damage 51-101, Falloff, Type: Explosive, Disruption)
  • almost every number is drawn twice: once as a figure and once as a row of small blocks, Mass in orange blocks, Range in yellow, Matter in red, the rest in green, so a stat can be compared by bar length before it is read, and colour follows meaning (heat and damage stats run hot, structure runs green)
  • the right PARTS panel is the whole robot on one list, grouped Power / Propulsion / Utility / Weapon with a letter and a status square per part: Reflective Light Armor, EM Shield, Reaction Control System, Drone Bay (2/2) with a spare Drone Bay under it in blue, Remote Shield Generator; Minigun, Phase Cannon, Hvy. Gatling Laser, Hvy. Hammer, and the inspected part, P - Neutron Missile Launcher, highlighted on a dark green row with the cursor on it
  • each part's integrity is a right-aligned column of tick marks, full rows for healthy parts and stubs for damaged ones, the robot's health is read as a table, part by part, because in Cogmind parts are the health bar
  • below it, the INVENTORY panel (3/4) holds what is carried but not attached, Core Analyzer, Cesium-ion Thruster, Flak Gun, in the same lettered, tick-marked format, so attached and stored parts stay directly comparable
