What to study
Terminal hacking in Cogmind is a menu with the odds printed on it. Every possible intrusion, stealing a lore record, querying the patrol status, seizing machine controls, is a lettered row with its success percentage set in orange, and the cost of trying is declared up front in one line: Chance of Detection: High (50%). The left panel narrates the attempt as a three-step log ('Scanning nodes... Building attack tree... Bypassing authorization...'), which turns a probability check into a procedure the player performs. The records on the list double as the game's codex: lore here is not a journal you open, it is data you break in and steal, priced by how hard the terminal fights back. Classified encyclopedia-codex because the terminal is Cogmind's records-and-lore system; the frame is the trailer's zoom into that screen, with the RESULTS panel continuing below the frame's bottom edge. Frame at about 0:32 in the Alpha Trailer (Steam; manual extraction).

Screen inventory
- three bordered panels divide the work: / HACKING / at left holds your side of the attempt, Utilities (Improved Hacking Suite, System Mapper, both tagged ACTIVE on green chips), System (Terminal vZr.10n, Familiarity: None (0), the None printed red), and Status, a live three-line log: 'Scanning nodes...', 'Building attack tree...', 'Bypassing authorization...'
- risk is a single plain line under the log: 'Chance of Detection: High (50%)', with High printed orange, the whole gamble of the screen is stated before you pick anything
- / TARGET / at right names the machine, Terminal M002 - Restricted Access, under one full-width orange bar, SECURITY LEVEL 2, the only large colour block on the screen, so the threat rating is the first thing read
- the target list is a keyboard menu, lettered a to z: records to steal (Record 'Recycling Unit' 65%, Record 'Materials' 55%, Record 'Solar System' 45%), live system queries (Alert Level 55%, Dispatch Records 45%, Security Status 30%, Patrol Status 30%, Transport Status 40%, Assault Status 30%) and interventions (Component Inventory 30%, Machine Controls 45%, Manual Command N/A), every option priced with its success chance in orange at the right edge, unavailable rows dimmed
- a third panel, / RESULTS /, opens along the bottom, still showing raw binary in this frame: output has its own permanent home on the same screen, so a hack is a conversation you watch, not a dice roll you confirm
