What to study
The orchard frame shows Banished's window discipline: nothing here is a screen you 'go to'. The Orchard panel, the Map and the town status panel are three small dark windows pinned over a live view of the thing they describe, and all three can be read in one glance, what this plot grows (Plum, with seven alternatives listed), where the town sits, and how the town is doing in year 37. The dropdown matters beyond orchards: Banished reuses the identical icon-and-list pattern for crop fields and orchards, so a control learned on a field transfers whole to a tree plot. Even the Food Limit follows the player into the building panel, the cap is a property of the town, restated wherever food is made. Frame at about 1:16 in the GameTrailer (Steam; manual extraction from the held orchard shot).

- the Orchard window heads with four icon buttons, Plum (the current tree), Harvest, Work and Cut, and a worker readout '3 of 3': the building's whole verb set is four pictograms
- its tree dropdown is open: Walnut, Pear, Apple, Plum (highlighted orange), Cherry, Pecan, Chestnut, with the mouse cursor resting on Chestnut, replanting an orchard is the same one-list gesture as planting a field
- to the dropdown's right, two quiet data lines: a yield readout and 'Food Limit 30000', the orchard reports against the town-wide food cap, not a private stockpile
- the orchard plot is outlined in yellow in the world: rows of mature trees between a fenced sheep pasture (bottom-left) and a ripe cornfield (top), so the panel's subject fills half the frame
- bottom-left, two more windows share the screen without modal interruption: the Map (terrain, rivers, the town's footprint) and the Shepherdston town panel, Early Summer, year 37, population 271 / 32 / 40, resource rows, five red health hearts, happiness stars and a count of 76
