What to study
The between-chapter upgrade screen does four jobs in one spread and keeps them all visible: the company's loadouts at left, the hero wearing the candidate item in the middle, the item browser under her, and an honest current-vs-new ledger at right where only the stats that change get green arrows. Two details reward study: the action text names the hero ('Soria strikes with her The Gloom Smasher…'), so a generic item card becomes her card; and the cost list is a checklist already ticked against shared party resources, so the craft decision is made with the whole company's purse on the table. Frame at about 0:40 in the Early Access Launch Trailer (Steam; manual filmstrip extraction, the screen holds settled while the trailer dwells on the selected mace).

- the frame of the screen is a chapter break: 'Chapter 2 Complete / Gear Upgrades' top left, a five-dot progress track across the top, and an 'Enter Next' button, crafting happens in the story's pauses, as one step of the between-chapter sequence
- the left column stacks the whole company as loadout rows: each hero (Soria Gore, Ellen Timber, Borglin Stack) gets Armor / Primary / Secondary / Offhand chips with tiers printed on them, above a Current Resources list (12 Heartwoods, 16 Hides, 16 Ingots, 12 Fabrics, 12 Spellthreads) the costs are drawn from
- the centre is the paperdoll: Soria stands life-size holding the candidate mace and her offhand spellshard, over a 'Replace with:' browser, weapon-type tabs (Sword, Axe, Mace, Spear, Bow, Crossbow, Dagger, Staff, Wand) beside a grid where crafted tiers show as star-rated icons and uncrafted ones stay padlocked
- the right column is a before/after ledger: Current Spinesong (Tier 1) against New The Gloom Smasher (Tier 3), stat rows with green delta arrows on the two gains (Damage 5 to 7, Knockback 1.6 to 2.1), one line of flavour, the Fire stunt and the Slam action written out with Soria's name in the sentence, then a Cost (with discount 5) checklist ticked green against the party's stock and the Craft Item button
