What to study
The system map is the Expanse chart's opposite number: where the sector view is parchment and brass, the in-system view is a sensor plot, green rings on black, tick-mark rulers, a binary star rendered as physics rather than heraldry. Rogue Trader keeps two map languages because the player holds two offices: dynast surveying a realm on paper, captain conning a ship on a plot. The dotted course line and the ringed planet markers are the whole interaction vocabulary, and the planet labels are deliberately written in an in-fiction glyph script rather than translated, the plot is an instrument reading, and some of it is not for the player's convenience. Disclosed: those glyph labels and their micro data blocks are decorative at this scale and cannot be transcribed; nothing in the frame is trailer burn-in. Frame at about 0:13 in the Release trailer (Steam; scene-change survivor v0_0003).

Screen inventory
- zooming from the Expanse chart into one system changes instruments entirely: a dark-green hololithic plot of concentric elliptical orbit rings, each ring carrying small direction arrowheads, with ruler-tick scales along the top and right edges and a faded aquila watermark at upper left
- the centre is astronomy, not iconography: a binary pair, an orange giant visibly siphoning a stream of matter into its white companion, with asteroid belts drawn as two dotted bands crossing the rings
- five planets sit on the rings, each circled in green and tagged with a gold glyph label and a tiny data block in the same in-fiction script; the player's plotted course is a dotted green line running from a diamond marker at lower left out to one ringed planet, with the voidship itself a small green silhouette mid-plot
- there is almost no conventional chrome, no buttons, no resource bar, the plot is the interface, and the only affordances are the markers on the rings
