What to study

The Painter translates tabletop painting into a form: a scheme is twelve named slots, and the names are the hobby's own (Primary through Quaternary, Trim, Cloth, Sergeant Helmet) so a player who has painted a Blood Raven already knows what each swatch will do. The model stands at full height in the scheme as you build it, and the faction → chapter → unit selector chain makes clear the scheme belongs to an army, not a single miniature, while the 1/4 pager invites checking it across the roster. The Advanced tier (per-model styles, parent schemes) exists behind the second tab; Basic earns its name by hiding all of it. Frame at about 7:30 in the Gameplay Overview Trailer video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v0_0111.png at 449.9s).

Tabs

Screen inventory

  • top: the same mode tab bar, PAINTER lit, with BASIC / ADVANCED as a sub-tab pair, two depths of the same tool, basic first
  • the unit path as three linked selectors: Space Marines (faction) → Blood Ravens (chapter, ticked as chosen) → Bladeguard Veteran (unit), with a CREATE BASIC SCHEME plaque beneath
  • left: the scheme as twelve labelled swatches in two rows, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Quaternary, Helmet, Sergeant Helmet; Trim, Cloth 1, Cloth 2, Accessory 1, a chapter decal tile and Battle Role Decal, miniature-painting vocabulary, not RGB pickers
  • centre: the Veteran at full height wearing exactly those colours, bone shoulder pads, red armour and cloth, so every swatch change has a life-size answer; a 1/4 pager at the bottom cycles the army's units
