What to study
Casting a spell pauses the battle behind a single parchment card, and the card is written like a contract: what it does (+1 Troop Movement, +5 Initiative), how long it lasts (1 Troop round), how it grows (an extra round of duration for every 10 Wielder levels), and what it costs (4 Order essence), four labelled sections, no prose wasted. The interface never lets the context drop while you read: a banner at the top repeats the spell's name and the pending instruction ('Select a friendly troop'), both Wielders' portraits keep their essence counts in the top corners, the initiative bar along the bottom shows exactly whose turn this spell will reorder, and every troop's stack count stays printed under its feet on the hexes. The card is translucent enough that the field shows through it, the spell is priced in the same frame as the army it will move. Frame at 0:46.4 in the Feature Overview (Steam).

Screen inventory
- centre, the spell card itself: an icon header, the name QUICKEN, an italic flavour line ('Quicken their bodies and minds.'), then labelled rules sections, SPELL DESCRIPTION ('Target friendly troop gets +1 Troop Movement, +5 Initiative'), DURATION ('1 Troop round'), SCALING ('For every 10 Wielder levels, get 1 Duration additional') and ESSENCE NEEDED TO CAST ('4 ORDER'), with a 'Select target(s)' footer
- a slim banner pinned to the top centre repeats the spell name and the current instruction: 'QUICKEN, Select a friendly troop'
- both Wielders watch from the top corners: circular portraits ringed with essence pips and counts (the caster's masked face at left, the enemy's bearded face at right showing 1 / 6 / 1)
- along the bottom, the initiative bar: a row of troop portraits with stack counts (32, 21, 21, 2, 13, 23), the active troop's larger card at the left showing 23, and a 'Next round' marker dividing the order
- every troop on the stone hex field carries its stack count as a small numeral under its feet (21, 23, 32, 13, 2), so the card's arithmetic can be checked against the field it will change
