What to study
Songs of Conquest's adventure layer runs on almost no chrome: one portrait cluster in the top-left corner, one column of round buttons at the right edge, and one hourglass in the bottom-right to end the turn. Everything else is delegated to the map. The selected Wielder is a giant figure under a faction banner you can read from across the screen; a town being built is drawn with scaffolding instead of a progress bar; the pools that govern your army ('2/10', '10/100') sit as small cards beside the portrait rather than in a ledger. The restraint is the design statement, this is a Heroes of Might and Magic heir that trusts its painterly pixel map to carry state, and keeps the HUD to what a player must check every turn: who is selected, how much army they hold, and how to end the turn. Frame at 0:03.6 in the Feature Overview (Steam).

Screen inventory
- top-left, the Wielder's portrait medallion (a masked, gold-faced figure on purple) ringed by essence pips in teal, white and red, with a level badge '1' and the caption 'Wielders 1/1' beneath it
- beside the portrait, two small round ability icons and two troop cards showing the army's pools as fractions, '2/10' and '10/100', so the selected army's size reads without opening a panel
- a vertical stack of four round menu buttons down the right edge (town, hexagon, flask and book glyphs)
- the end-turn control is a single hourglass button in the bottom-right corner, the whole turn loop is one click, always in the same place
- on the map itself, information is carried by the world, not chrome: the Wielder stands oversized under a tall purple banner bearing the Loth crown sigil, a town rises in scaffolding at the left edge (construction drawn as actual scaffolding), and resource piles, a graveyard and a still lake glow against the night palette
