What to study
This is the frame that explains Reigns: the decision is a physical gesture, and the interface's whole job is to preview its consequence before the player commits. Tilt the card and two things appear that the settled screen hides, the answer line ('No, not there!') and the dots above the affected faction icons. The binary choice is never presented as buttons; it is presented as a direction, and the preview is the game's way of making an irreversible swipe feel informed rather than random. That a dog's card carries the same preview machinery as a state crisis is the point: every card, trivial or fatal, goes through the identical gesture. Frame at 63s in the Gameplay video (Steam; manual extraction). The card screens are presented in the trailer as a central portrait strip with dark side bars (kept full-frame, not cropped).

Screen inventory
- the same strip, mid-gesture: the card is tilted and dragged off-centre, its back (dark, fleur-de-lis pattern) peeking at the right edge, so the frame catches the swipe itself rather than its result
- the preview line sits at the top of the card, 'No, not there!', the game's one-line forecast of what a left swipe means here; the request above it reads 'Wof! Grrrr... (Rex brings you to a lonely caravan in the marketplace)'
- the card is Rex, the court's dog: long ears, red bow tie, lime-green field, the game gives a dog the same formal portrait treatment as a bishop, which is the joke and the design point at once
- the quest list at right has changed since the settled frame: 'Meet the witch' now appears in the list, and the king's name at bottom left is now 'Edward', the checklist is a live record of which story threads this reign has opened
- small dots above two of the four faction icons (visible in the preview states of this video) mark which factions the pending choice touches, the only meter feedback the game offers, and it appears only while dragging
