What to study
DOOM multiplayer's answer to information overload, caught in the Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer: for a few seconds the game throws away its own rendering. After a player triggers a glowing pad at about 0:40, the view cuts to this vision mode, the arena redrawn as an amber wireframe grid inside a soft visor mask, textures and lighting deleted, and every opponent rendered as a solid heat-bright silhouette, the only solid things in the frame. It is a priority inversion as a visual system: in the normal game the world is solid and enemies must be picked out of it; here the world is a mesh and people are the data. Nothing is written down, no labels, no distances, no health figures, because at DOOM's speed the only question the mode exists to answer is who is where, including through the architecture the grid still describes. The trailer never names the mode on screen, so this note describes what it shows rather than labelling the system. Frame at about 0:42 in the DOOM Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer video (Steam), a manual extraction (probes/v0-probe-41.5.png at 41.5s, copied to the workdir root as threat-vision-wireframe-arena.png); the pipeline's scene-change pass caught the same moment (candidates/v0_0016.png at 41.58s) only as a white flash blows out the left half of the frame, so the settled probe half a step earlier is the keeper.

Screen inventory
- the whole view is reframed inside a soft-edged visor mask, a rounded, wavy border vignettes the frame, so the mode announces itself as a lens the character is looking through, not as a HUD layer pasted over the world
- every surface of the arena is stripped to an amber wireframe grid ruled over dark faces: pillars, walls, platforms and floor become pure structure, texture and lighting deleted so depth and cover read instantly
- opponents are the only solid objects in the frame, rendered as heat-bright silhouettes, cream, orange-red and yellow figures at ground level and a fourth orange figure on the raised platform at centre-right, a complete figure/ground inversion: people first, world as mesh
- no text, no numbers, no crosshair, no bars anywhere: the mode's entire information content is who is where, delivered by colour and solidity alone

Fetched 2026-10-21. verified 2026-10-21: manual extraction (probes/v0-probe-41.5.png, 41.5s) inspected visually at full resolution (1920x1080 native) and confirmed as a genuine, settled, fully legible gameplay frame, the amber wireframe grid is sharp across pillars, walls and floor, all four opponent silhouettes are solid and distinct, the visor-mask border is clean, and no trailer typography, flash or transition effect overlays the frame (the scene-change survivor of the same moment, candidates/v0_0016.png at 41.58s, is flash-blown and was rejected in its favour)
