What to study
Conversation is a single scrolling log pinned to the right third of the screen: speaker names in small caps, narration in grey italics, your own lines marked YOU, and numbered reply options in red stacked at the foot of the log. The speaker's painted portrait floats at the panel's edge over the live isometric scene, so the world stays visible while you read. Nothing is hidden behind menus - the log is the interface. Frame at about 0:51 in the Date Announce and Features Trailer (Steam).
