What to study
Kept beside the desk panel, this frame proves the verb system is a language, not a one-off: same five slots, same START button, but a different verb, different filled cards and a fuller cost ledger (POWERS / CHALLENGES / MYSELF / FORMS). The design lesson is the reuse, one panel template, one slot vocabulary, infinite verbs, and the bracketed hint inside the prose ('to reply instead, add Ink at a desk') shows how the game teaches chaining without a tutorial screen: the next action is suggested by the current one. A catalog needs both panels because the system, not either verb, is what is worth studying. Frame at about 0:21 in Welcome to Hush House (Steam; scene-change survivor v0_0004).

Screen inventory
- the second verb panel in the set, and the contrast is the point: READ A LETTER fills two slots, Ereb under Soul, A LETTER TO THE LIBRARIAN under Papers, and its footer spells out the full cost grammar the desk panel only hinted at: POWERS, CHALLENGES (5 / 10 / 15), MYSELF and FORMS rows, each with its own aspect icons, so a single action's requirements read as a small ledger
- the panel's prose is instructional, not decorative: 'A message for me... [Read the letter; to reply instead, add Ink at a desk.]', the bracketed hint teaches a second, chained verb inside the first, the game's tutorial voice living in the panel text itself
- the same XANTHOTIC ESSENCE tooltip and the same top bar and bottom dock as the desk frame anchor it: the two verb panels are visibly the same system with different contents, not two different UIs, and the house cross-section behind is the same rooms from a slightly shifted camera
- the slot labels repeat exactly, Soul, Skill, Memory, Papers, With, so the player learns one slot vocabulary and reuses it for every verb in the game, from reading letters to working desks

Fetched 2026-10-28. verified 2026-10-28: scene-change survivor candidates/v0_0004.png @ 20.60s in Welcome to Hush House, MD5 031a150265deba2bbc900349b65a1353, from the verified-clean Steam download (58,995,433 B, MD5 20f5fee6ef86d247e5b4f981c563507a; full decode to null with -v error exit 0, zero error lines), inspected visually at full resolution (1920x1080 native); the READ A LETTER title, both filled slots, all four footer rows and the START button legible. NOTE: candidates.json flags this frame similar_to v0_0002 (shared house background and card dock); visual review confirms the modal content is entirely different (different verb, different slots filled, different footer rows), so it is distinct coverage, not a duplicate; faint EARLY BETA watermark burned into the trailer footage at the right edge
