What to study

The Scanner carries its interface on its own body: a small flip-out screen on the side of the tool states its status in plain words, 'READY TO SCAN', so the feedback lives on the object you are pointing, not in a HUD corner, and the creature you are about to scan (here a Gasopod, hanging centred in the dive-mask view) stays the focus of the frame. It is the game's knowledge economy in one prop: point the tool, its screen tells you it is ready, and scanning is what fills the databank. Frame at about 0:50 in the Gameplay Trailer (Steam).
