What to study

When Stardew Valley asks the player something, the answer is written out as full sentences in character, not menu shorthand: at the Festival of Ice the wooden dialogue box widens to the full width of the screen, drops the portrait it uses for ordinary speech, and lists three snowman philosophies, 'A classic one. Carrot nose, top-hat, scarf.', 'Something funky. Icicle antennas, pine cone eyes.', and the refusal option, 'Snowmen are boring. Think outside of the box!'. The selection state is a single thin red rectangle and a small hand cursor, and a '?' glyph waits at the corner of the box. The question stays anchored to the world it is about: behind the panel the other villagers are already standing next to the snowmen they built, on the frozen lake, beside the igloo. It is the game's social system in one frame, a festival mini-conversation where the choice is flavour and relationship, not loot. Frame at about 1:38 in the Stardew Valley Trailer 1080p (Steam), manually extracted at 98.0s: the scene-change pass emitted no frame for this beat.
