What to study

The Dawn of Equinox update lets a second player drop into battles, and this is how the game talks to them: dialogue as an interruption layer, not a scene change. The box borrows the top quarter of the screen, the portrait does the acting, and the battle HUD never disappears, because the line is not flavour, it is a combat instruction (an enemy is mid-cast; react now). Keeping the party chips visible under the warning means the cost of ignoring it is on screen at the same time. Frame at 0:50.6 in the Dawn of Equinox trailer (manual extraction; the scene-change pass caught only the fight that follows).
