What to study
Read from the vent's side of the room, the signage system shows its grammar at two scales. In the foreground the pneumatic vent is pure industrial design, a glass tube mouth in a square housing on a plinth, an object that explains itself. Across the chamber, the wall panel repeats the pictogram set in a fixed order (the element's own pictogram at the head, here the vent, then hazard tiles, then the running-man exit in its circle), and a dotted indicator line climbs out of the panel up the right-hand wall toward the machinery it is wired to. A player who has learned the panel's layout in one chamber can read any chamber: the signs are a standard, not decoration, and they keep working in a ruined, overgrown room decades later, which is the fiction and the usability case at once. Frame at about 1:19 in the E3 Demo (Excursion Funnels) video (Steam), manually extracted at 78.5s: the scene-change pass emitted no frame for this segment. Caveat: the E3 video's faint APERTURE LABORATORIES watermark sits in the top-left corner and covers no part of the panel or the vent.
