What to study

Half a second after the orange layer, the same aerial shot switches data. The zoo goes pale blue-grey and beige, and the things the player built light up instead: dozens of vivid cyan blocks of very different sizes, shops, facilities and infrastructure reduced to bright solids clustered along the central paths, with a handful of small orange markers dotted among them and two white shade sails kept as cyan-outlined triangles. Kept alongside the orange frame, this is the clearest evidence in either trailer of how Planet Zoo's heat maps work as a system: one button-cycle, and the identical view answers a different question, because the overlay does not draw a new map, it re-lights the real one, muting whatever the layer is not about and saturating whatever it is. The trailer shows no legend or layer label at any timestamp, so this layer is described by what is observable (built facilities as cyan blocks) rather than by a menu name. Frame at about 1:30 in the Planet_Zoo_Launch_Trailer (Steam), manually extracted at 89.5s: the montage cycles a layer roughly every half second (about 88.7-90.7s) as crossfades inside one continuous aerial shot, and the scene-change pass caught no frame of any layer. The frame carries the trailer's small 'IN-GAME FOOTAGE' caption at bottom centre, disclosed here; it is the publisher's burn-in, not game UI.

  • the same whole-zoo aerial as the orange layer, now desaturated to pale blue-grey and beige
  • dozens of vivid cyan blocks of varied sizes marking the built facilities across the zoo, clustered along the central paths
  • a few small orange markers among the cyan blocks, two at centre left and one at far right beside the rail curve
  • two white triangular shade sails outlined in cyan, one at centre right and one at lower left
  • tiny guest figures still visible along the paths and stairs, and dark animal silhouettes in the savanna habitat at right
