What to study

Loop Hero's central screen is a map you author and then watch: in Planning the expedition freezes, the loop hangs in the void, and the player's whole job is placement, which card, on which tile, next to what. The layout makes that division of labour visible: the map takes the centre, the deck sits large and legible at bottom left because choosing is the verb here, and the hero is pushed to a single right-hand column of grids and stats because, in this phase, he is a build to be tuned rather than a character to be steered. That the necromancer is identified only by MAX SKELETONS and SUMMON QUALITY in the stat list is the game's economy in miniature: classes are stat vocabularies, not portraits. Frame at about 0:23 in the Gameplay Trailer (Steam; scene-change survivor v0_0002).

Screen inventory

  • the top bar names the phase, not the place: PLANNING in the centre beside a wide eye icon, flanked by day-cycle bars and an hourglass speed control at left and resource counts at right, with ROUND / ENEMY LEVEL 7 above the settings gear, the game is paused and the bar says so
  • the loop itself is a closed cobbled path floating in black void, already built out with placed tiles, a cemetery, wooden buildings, glowing creatures and yellow-ringed markers on the road, while the unbuilt world shows only as grey patches at the edges: mountains at top left, a rocky field at top right, a maze-like thicket at bottom left, all waiting for cards
  • the hand sits bottom left as five large named cards, RUINS, SPIDER COCOON, CEMETERY, OBLIVION, RUINS, each a full illustration with its name on a plate, duplicates included, so in Planning the cards are big enough to read and choose between
  • the right column is the hero in two grids and a list: an equipment grid (several slots still empty grey), health bars reading 657 / 706 and 67 / 540, a loot inventory grid whose items carry level numbers in their corners, and a red STATS panel that is unmistakably a necromancer's, DAMAGE 4-6, MAX HP +426, MAGIC HP 156, MAX SKELETONS 4, SUMMON QUALITY 52%, SKELETON LEVEL +7.27, the class is stated by its stat list, never by a class label
