What to study
Kenshi's crafting window is a production desk, not a recipe book. The left column names the benches, the middle scrolls the catalogue by maker and grade, a Guardless Katana exists as Refitted Blade, Mk III, Edge Type 1 and Catun No.3, quality as a supply chain of named manufacturers rather than a colour of rarity, and the right holds the queue, three Edge Type katanas deep, with a REPEAT QUEUE toggle for when the outpost becomes a factory. The description pane reads like an engineering sheet (cutting 1.49, blood loss 1.30x, -39% against robots, 32 hours, 7 materials) because in a game where limbs are health pools, a blade is a set of consequences. That the whole apparatus is one tab of seven, alongside MAP, FACTION, RESEARCH, SQUADS, DIALOGUE and AI, states the scope plainly: this is not a crafting minigame bolted on, it is one desk in the management office of a small economy. Frame at about 1:09 in the Kenshi - Gameplay Trailer (Steam; manual extraction, the window opens at ~67s between scene cuts; the 2 fps fine probe fine/res_013.png is the settled CRAFTING tab, copied to manual-crafting-69.png).

Screen inventory
- one window, seven tabs, MAP, FACTION, RESEARCH, CRAFTING, SQUADS, DIALOGUE, AI, Kenshi's entire management layer is filed behind a single tabbed panel; CRAFTING is open here over the same outpost the Weapon Smith panel describes at the frame's edges
- three columns divide the work: STATIONS (two Weapon Smith III benches), ITEMS (a scroll of weapons by maker and grade, Guardless Katana as Refitted Blade, Mk III, Edge Type 1 and Catun No.3, then Spiked Clubs and Flesh Cleavers in the same grades) and QUEUE, where three 'Guardless Katana, Edge Type' orders wait with red X cancels above a REPEAT QUEUE toggle
- the DESCRIPTION pane prices a blade like a test report: Guardless Katana [Katana class], Cutting damage 1.49, Blunt damage 0.00, Blood loss 1.30x, Armour penetration -30%, Attack bonus +6, Defence bonus -6, Damage vs robots -39%, plus Estimated Craft Time 32 hrs and Materials Costs 7; quality is a manufacturer and a grade, never a rarity colour
- nothing closes behind the window: the Weapon Smith III panel at lower left still reads Crafting: Guardless Katana (the very item whose stats fill the pane), the Your Outpost panel keeps its Power 31/30 at right, and the SQUAD strip runs beneath, production is scheduled from inside the running base
