What to study
Kenshi's trade screen is three inventories arguing with each other. On the left, the trader's wooden backpack; in the middle, Jiub's own body and bag, weapon slots, armour slots, three loaves of bread; on the right, the shop's goods, where a barrel takes the shelf space a barrel should. Nothing is a list: every object has a size, every stack a count, and both purses stay visible (the trader's c.12,828 against your c.17,978) because a Kenshi shopkeeper holds finite cash and can be sold to until he is broke. Underneath it all the bottom bar keeps running, Jiub's limb health, his hunger, the squad tabs with their player-given names, so trade is never a mode you enter, just a window you open over a world that does not pause for commerce. Frame at about 0:18 in the Kenshi - Gameplay Trailer (Steam; manual extraction, the window opens between scene cuts inside the trailer's TRADE segment; the 2 fps fine probe fine/inv_007.png is the settled window, copied to manual-trade-18.png).

Screen inventory
- three spatial grids side by side: the TRADER'S WOODEN BACKPACK (empty) at left, Jiub's own equipment panel in the middle, WEAPON I holding a blade, WEAPON II and BELT empty, SHIRT / HEAD / PANTS / ARMOR / BOOTS slots around a small INVENTORY grid with three loaves of bread, and the shop's TRADE GOODS grid at right, where every object occupies cells by its physical size (a barrel takes a 2x3 block, a katana one long row) with stack counts numbered in the corners (10, 9, 41, 16, 7)
- both purses stay on screen at once: the shop panel header reads 'Money: c.12,828' while the HUD counter at lower right reads c.17,978, a Kenshi trader can be bought dry, so the trade window shows the money on both sides of the counter
- Jiub's panel prices the person, not just the bag: Total Weight 24/38, Disguise: None, 'Slave of: -', 'Looks like slave: -', in a world with slavery and faction uniforms, the inventory screen doubles as a status sheet for how the world will read you
- the simulation never leaves the frame: under the windows the bottom bar keeps Jiub's body-part bars (Blood 92, Head 99, Left Arm 83, Hunger 289), the Day 1 clock (13:26) and the four player-named squad tabs, LOGISTIC, MEAT SHIELDS, WARRIORS, FARMERS, shopping is a window opened over a life that continues underneath it
