What to study
The MechLab refuses the usual inventory grid: the spreadsheet is the 'Mech. Eight location columns stand in body order, arms outboard, torsos flanking the head and centre torso, legs below, so a loadout is read the way a technician walks around the machine, and every card inside a column is a physical thing bolted into that body part, colour-coded by family (green ballistic, red energy, blue-grey missile) and priced in heat per turn. The design's honesty is at the top: this Atlas II is illegal, and the screen says so in red, 101 of 100 tons, '1 TON OVERWEIGHT', MODIFIED, while still letting you study the whole build, heatsinks stuffed into every leg and arm to feed the AC/20 and the laser pairs. Summary bars on the left translate the pile of cards into Movement, Firepower, Durability and Heat Efficiency, but the columns are the truth. Frame at 1:29.6 in BATTLETECH Basics - Episode 2: Mercenary Life.

Screen inventory
- the header block: 'ATLAS II' and 'Atlas II - AS7-D-HT - ASSAULT 'Mech', the tonnage readout '101 / 100 TONS' in red with '1 TON OVERWEIGHT' beneath it, an orange MODIFIED tag, and 'FUNDS: ₡179,000' at top right
- the left summary column: six orange stat bars (MOVEMENT, FIREPOWER, DURABILITY, AVG. RANGE, MELEE, HEAT EFFICIENCY), WEAPONS / EQUIPMENT tabs, and a component list holding a GENERIC HEATSINK and a JUMP JET (S)
- eight location columns laid out in the 'Mech's own body order, RIGHT ARM, RIGHT TORSO, HEAD, CENTER TORSO, LEFT TORSO, LEFT ARM, RIGHT LEG, LEFT LEG, each with structure points (S 85/85 up to S 160/160) and front/rear armour steppers (F 160/210, R 50/110 on the torsos)
- colour-coded component cards stacked per location: green AC/20 with two AC/20 AMMO cards in the right torso, red ER L LASERs in both arms and M PULSE pair in the centre torso, blue-grey LRM20 / SRM6 / LRM AMMO / SRM AMMO in the left torso, and rows of HEATSINK (D) and HEATSINK cards filling arms and legs, each annotated '- 3 Heat / Turn' or '- 6 Heat / Turn'
- the footer furniture: a DISMOUNT box reading 'DRAG COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL', the 'STOCK COMBAT ROLE: JUGGERNAUT & CLOSE ASSAULT' caption, and orange REVERT and white CONFIRM buttons at bottom right, all over a dim hangar photograph of the 'Mech itself
