What to study
Research is a three-card choice with a catalog behind it: the center offers three candidate technologies as large illustrated cards (Starbase Refinery, Xeno Biology, Energy Deflection Theory), each with a cost of 2 research, while the right rail lists twelve Additional Candidates as color-coded rows with their own costs, so the player sees the next dozen options without leaving the screen. The bottom-left detail panel for the selected Pulse Cannons spells out the payoff in plain language (particle clouds launched "with far greater ease, and consequently, at much higher volume") and its Unlocks (B-3 Piper, Enhanced Pulse Cannon, Pulse Cannon) and Leads To chain. Trailer caption 'RESEARCH ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES' is burned across the lower third, covering the bottom of the detail panel and the lowest candidate row. Frame at 1:16 in September 2023 Gameplay Trailer (Steam).
