What to study
Victoria 3's technology screen is three trees wearing one coat. Production, Military and Society sit as tabs across a single full-screen graph, and the Military view shown here reads top-down as a story: two ticked tier-I medallions (Line Infantry, Artillery) feed Army Reserves and the node currently researching, Napoleonic Warfare, ringed in light, its progress stated twice, once on its own name plate (3.95K / 4.00K) and once in the header bar, which adds the two numbers that govern all research: Weekly Innovation 50 flowing in, and Technology Spread 18–56 arriving uninvited from the wider world. Researched nodes get a plain tick rather than a colour flood, locked tier-II nodes (General Staff, Logistics, Field Works, Shell Gun, Percussion Cap) sit dimmed at the foot with their Roman-numeral era badges, and curved dependency lines, never straight arrows, do the teaching. Frame at about 0:32 in the Release Trailer video (Steam), pipeline candidate v0_0007 at 32.2s.
