What to study
The story-mode briefing as a single layered sheet: Northgard opens a chapter by stacking three decisions on top of the map they will be played on, what the chapter asks (the Contest briefing and its three bonus objectives, stated as an unticked checklist), who leads it (Egil of the Wolf, his starting and fame bonuses spelled out with their 200 / 500 fame thresholds), and who stands beside him (five Bannerman portrait cards to pick from). Nothing is hidden behind a tab: the clan's whole economy of meat, food and fame is readable before the first zone is colonized, and the parchment map with its dotted route ghosts through underneath, so the briefing never leaves the campaign's geography. The trailer presents the screen with its 'STORY MODE / 1 Player' sidebar at the left edge (trailer framing, disclosed here); both game panels are complete and fully legible, and no game text is cut. Frame at about 0:53 in the Celebrating Northgard (2024 Trailer) (Steam), a manual probe extraction (probes/v1c4.png at 53.0s; the scene-change pass missed this sequence).

- centre, the chapter panel numbered 8 in a diamond tab: a painted war-horn banner, the title 'Contest', and the briefing in two plain sentences, 'We are the first mainlanders to set foot in these regions. We will probably have to make our way through hostile wilds.'
- under it, Bonus Objectives as an unticked checklist: Kill all the Wyverns. Colonize the Jotnar's camp. Subdue Borgild by force., optional feats with inline icons for the things they name
- at the panel's foot, 'Select a Bannerman' over five portrait cards, the companion choice is made on the briefing screen, before the map starts, not in a separate character menu
- right, the clan sheet for the chapter's leader, Egil, The clan of the Wolf: STARTING BONUSES (killing animals provides Meat; military units consume 30% less Food and provide Happiness; the first recruitment is free if you have no military units) and FAME BONUSES with their thresholds priced, Dominion (requires 200 fame): Egil can colonize cleared zones for free; Assault (requires 500): military units gain a 15% attack bonus outside your territory and Egil's Dominion cooldown is reduced by 50%
- behind both panels, the story map itself: a parchment continent with hatched forests and mountain ranges, a dotted route and node medallions, the campaign's geography stays visible under its briefing
