What to study

The satellite map again, but doing a different job than keeper 1. There the map planned a move, with a route panel pricing Bravo Squad's march from G8 to H8. Here the map takes stock: the left column is Alpha Squad itself, five portraits with names and a SNYPE tag, and the card open over the middle counts the opposition instead, an ENEMY SQUAD [7] card with five enemy faces, two of them doubled with X2 multipliers. The quest card stays pinned top right (SAVING THE PRESIDENT, rescue LaFontaine from the Major's camp), the war chest and date stay in the header ($797,302, APR 25 2001), and the same blue friendly, red enemy, hatched unknown sector grammar covers the terrain underneath. Together the two frames show the strategic layer's two modes: plan the march on one, read the board on the other. Frame at about 3:32 in the Features Trailer (Steam), manually extracted at 212s from the held satellite-view sequence; inspected at full resolution (1920x1080); squad column, enemy card, quest card and sector grammar all legible, no trailer caption or marketing overlay in frame.

Screen inventory

  • the same satellite map a beat earlier than keeper 1, but with a different job on screen: the left column is ALPHA SQUAD [5], five portraits with names (MD, Barry, Livewire, Buns, Grizzly) and a SNYPE tag, in place of the route-planning panel
  • an ENEMY SQUAD [7] card open over the centre of the map: five enemy portrait types, two of them multiplied X2, with a Hide Info toggle at its foot
  • the campaign frame around the map is unchanged and still legible: the SAVING THE PRESIDENT quest card top right ('President LaFontaine must be rescued from the Major's camp'), a PAUSED banner top centre, $797,302 and APR 25 2001 in the header, and the bottom timeline (15:37 WED, APR 25, $797,302 minus $8,097, 0 OPERATIONS)
  • the map grammar reads at a glance: friendly sectors outlined blue, enemy sectors red, hatched sectors unvisited, diamond mine icons, anchor port icons and skull stronghold badges (Pantagruel (5%), Refugee Camp (5%), Chalet de la Paix labelled in place)
