What to study

Self-imposed difficulty returns as an oath: the same contract grammar as the Pact of Punishment (hades-3), a grid of Conditions each priced in a red-numbered currency, a running total judged against a budget, one clause explained in a tooltip, but the fiction and economy are new: vows like Pain, Frenzy, Debt and Hubris charge Fear (+1 to +3, total 35 in the vial), and the active Vow of Return turns slain foes into Revenants at 25% chance. The highlighted clause's keyword is defined in a corner tooltip, 'Revenant: After 5 Sec., this becomes the foe it came from, unless you collect it first', the same define-the-term-in-place habit as the Pact's condition tooltips, and the stone tablet keeps the screen an object in Melinoë's world rather than a detached menu. Frame at about 2:23 in the v1.0 Showcase (Steam), manually extracted at 143s: the scene-change pass emitted no settled frame for this screen (142s has the tooltip cut off; 143s shows the full Revenant tooltip).

Fetched 2026-10-22. verified 2026-10-22: frame manually extracted at 143s from the pipeline-downloaded v1.0 Showcase (Steam) and inspected visually at full resolution; real game UI (all 16 vows, Fear costs and total, Vow of Return detail, Revenant tooltip) confirmed visible and legible; the Showcase's burned-in segment headline ('REACH FOR NEW CHALLENGES') crosses the top of the frame above the vow grid and covers no vow
