What to study

The INTERmission DLC's two-person version of the same system, and the trailer's clearest look at its feedback layer: damage as big floating orange numerals (3418, 270, 18556, 77) stacked on a red Shinra mech boss, deliberately warm against the HUD's cyan. Bottom-right, Yuffie's stat block is wrapped in a glowing cyan frame, the active character is lit, not pointed at, with Sonon's plainer block (2653/3951, MP 26) parked above it; bottom-left, her shortcuts read E Throw / F Attack, the Throw verb swapped in for the main cast's character actions. Same corners, same grammar, new cast: the HUD is a template each party member's abilities pour into. Frame at about 0:21 in the ESRB_EN trailer video (Steam), a pipeline scene-change survivor (candidates/v0_0024.png at 20.78s).

Screen inventory

  • centre, the damage readout as floating orange numerals on the boss, 3418, 270, 18556, 77 stacked where the hits landed, feedback delivered at the point of impact, in a warm colour the cyan HUD never uses
  • bottom-right, the two-person INTERmission party: Sonon 2653/3951 MP 26 above, and Yuffie HP 2018/3233 MP 24 below inside a bright cyan selection frame with a Z marker and a diamond icon, the active character is announced by lighting her whole stat block, not by a cursor
  • bottom-left, the shortcuts in Yuffie's vocabulary: E Throw, F Attack, Commands Menu, Throw is her shuriken action, swapped in exactly where Cloud's Punisher Mode and Aerith's Tempest sat in the main-game frames
  • the cyan lock-on brackets sit on the mech's torso beside the damage numbers, and the boss, a huge red Shinra mech with a spear arm, fills the centre while Yuffie and Sonon stay small at its feet, the scale the numbers have to make readable
