What to study
Against the Storm is won and lost on two bars, and the HUD puts them at opposite ends of the same baseline. At the foot of the screen, a crown medallion anchors the blue, diamond-segmented Reputation bar at the left, fill it and the Queen is pleased, while a skull anchors the red Impatience bar at the right, one sliver filled and 0% beside it: fill that and the run ends. Every other system on screen feeds one bar or the other. The species cards at the left edge state each people's Resolve as a single number under a painted portrait (16, 10, and 7 with a green arrow as it climbs to 8), because Resolve is the pressure that moves both meters. The build menu open in this frame makes the same point in reverse: housing is not one building but seven cards, Shelter, Big Shelter, then a named house per species (Human, Beaver, Fox, Lizard, Harpy) with built counts (Beaver House 2, Fox House 1), because housing the species differently is how Resolve is bought. Above, the top bar compresses the economy to six resource stocks with green growth arrows, a season dial (II) with pause and x1.5/x2/x3 speeds under it, and the orders strip counted 2/2/3/5. Frame at about 0:17 in the Launch Trailer video (Steam), manually extracted at 17.0s: the scene-change pass emitted no frame inside this short HUD segment (its nearest candidates are the HUD-less settlement shots at 27.6s and 37.5s).

Screen inventory
- the twin bars at the foot of the screen, facing each other across the build-category icon row: at left a crown medallion and the blue segmented Reputation bar (at 0, its pips drawn as small blue diamonds), at right a skull medallion and the red Impatience bar with a sliver filled and 0% beside it
- the housing build menu open above the category row: seven house cards with built counts, Shelter 0, Big Shelter 0, Human House 0, Beaver House 2, Fox House 1, Lizard House 0, Harpy House 0, so each species' housing is a separate card in the palette
- three species cards stacked at the left edge, each a painted portrait over its Resolve number and its population/needs rows: 16 (population 4), 10 (population 3) and 7 rising to 8 (population 9, the green arrow showing Resolve climbing)
- top bar in game state: villager counts 16 / 3 / 10 at far left, then resource stocks 228 / 71 / 45 / 88 / 7 / 191 with green up-arrows on the growers, the circular season dial at centre (II, a tree emblem ringed in blue and red) with pause/play and x1.5 / x2 / x3 speed controls tucked under it
- top centre-right: the orders/perks strip, a 0 counter and four icon slots counted 2 / 2 / 3 / 5; top right a row of six round system buttons
- the settlement itself around the Ancient Hearth's stone guardian: red-roofed warehouses, a flower farm plot, species houses and a snail-drawn trader wagon, all under drizzle rain
