What to study

An interchange with no icon: in Mini Metro a transfer station is not marked, labelled or enlarged, the square glyph simply has more lines plugged into it (six ends, four colours here), and a green train pulls into the same hollow square a single-line stop would use. The second lesson is the scale-free diagram: zoomed to the point where one station fills the screen, nothing new appears, no names, no platform detail, because the design has exactly one information layer and it works at every distance. Frame at about 0:54 in the Launch Trailer (Steam), a manual extraction from the trailer's staged punch-in zoom, inspected at full resolution in this prep; the arriving train carries slight source motion softness, disclosed in the elements.

Map

Screen inventory

  • one hollow square station, centre frame, serving every line that touches it, magenta from the left and top, light blue from the top and lower-left, yellow from the upper-right and bottom, green from the upper-left: six line ends, one glyph, no interchange symbol, no station name
  • from the right, a solid green train, a long rectangle in its line's colour, is arriving at the square, its rear still off-frame; the train's scale against the glyph shows how the same shapes stay legible from full map down to this zoom
  • lines meet the glyph at transit-diagram angles only: horizontal, vertical and 45 degrees, the geometry rule that keeps the whole network readable is visible here as pure composition
  • the background stays the same flat grey as the full map: zooming in Mini Metro adds no detail layer, no labels fade in, the diagram is scale-free
