What to study
Cult of the Lamb's conversation layer is a single black banner with torn edges, and its economy is the lesson: a name in yellow, one line of white text, one advance triangle, nothing else. There is no portrait (the speaker stands under the banner's tail, in the world, wearing a mushroom cap and spiral eyes), no dialogue history, no choice wheel; the game trusts a follower's obsession to carry the scene in one sentence ('Precious, perfect little mushrooms'). Because the banner floats over the upper third instead of replacing the screen, the base stays alive beneath it, farm plots, signed storage boxes, the grape stall, and recruiting a follower reads as something that happens inside the simulation, not in a menu adjacent to it. The trailer's red caption sits at the bottom, outside the banner. Frame at about 1:02 in the Sins of the Flesh trailer (Steam), a manual probe extraction (probes/sins-sozo-61.5.png at 61.5s in the cult-of-the-lamb-all audit workdir; the scene-change candidate at 60.3s caught the same line still typing).

Screen inventory
- a black speech banner with torn, brushy edges stretched across the upper third of the screen, not docked to the bottom edge, but laid over the world like a strip of burnt paper
- the speaker's name, 'Sozo', in yellow serif centred above the line, the game's only colour-coded element on the banner, so attribution is the first thing read
- the line itself in plain white, complete and settled: 'Precious, perfect little mushrooms', with a small white advance triangle at the banner's lower-right corner, the only control hint the screen ever shows
- the banner's pointed tail aims down at the speaker himself: Sozo (red mushroom cap, spiral eyes, rucksack) standing in the farm plots beside the Lamb, no portrait cut-in, because the character is already on screen
- around them the working base never pauses or dims: tilled plots, a fertiliser box and a seed box wearing diamond icon signs, the grape stall, a scarecrow and the shrine

Fetched 2026-10-21. verified 2026-10-21: manual probe frame (probes/sins-sozo-61.5.png, 61.5s) inspected visually at full resolution (1920x1080 native) and confirmed as a genuine, settled dialogue frame, the Sozo name line, the complete line 'Precious, perfect little mushrooms' and the advance triangle are all sharp (at 60.5s the line is still fading in); the trailer caption 'New Sozo Follower' sits at the bottom, outside the banner, and is disclosed in the study note
