What to study
Phantom Blade Zero's boss HUD at the moment the fight opens, and it is almost not there: a two-tier boss bar with a serif name plate at top-centre, one diamond flask medallion with twin thin bars at bottom-left, and two tilted weapon diamonds at bottom-right - three clusters, each in its own corner, nothing else. Health is a line, resources are corner counts on a diamond, and the boss is introduced by typography alone. The frame also shows the HUD's discipline under spectacle: a burning village, three enemies converging and a blue shield bloom behind the player, and the interface does not add a single element for any of it. Frame at about 0:40 in the Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer video (Steam), manually extracted from the pipeline-fetched video - the trailer's boss fight is one continuous take the scene-change pass did not sample. Pre-release footage (the game launches Oct 29, 2026); the frame carries the trailer's own 'Captured on PS5' capture credit at bottom-centre.

Screen inventory
- top-centre: the boss plate - a long two-tier bar (silver main bar over a shorter gold sub-bar) with the name set under it in serif capitals, 'Chief Disciple of the Seven Stars'; no portrait, no icon - the name is the plate
- bottom-left: a diamond item medallion (a gourd flask) with counts stacked at its corners - 5 above, 3 below - feeding two thin bars, white over gold: health and a second resource carried as lines, never as numbers
- bottom-right: two tilted diamond weapon/item slots floating without any panel behind them - one tile marked in red, the other showing a coiled weapon with a count of 5
- the player stands centre-frame at rest in a straw hat while three disciples converge from the burning palisade - the HUD is already fully live before the first blow lands
